    具备相当的专业知识才可以做到critical reading，否则只能照本宣科。

    赞同poorlittle的观点。另外从语法上来说，也应该是第二种翻译。其中adjusted to PH 4.8 with glacial acid R是作为定语修饰sodium acetate R，如若按第一种翻译，整个句子语法上就说不过去了。个人观点，供参考。
