Coal contains large amounts of metallic elements. It is used as one of the major sources of energy because of its abundance in nature as well as for economic reasons. Because coal-fired power stations are a considerable source of atmospheric pollution, there has been growing interest in recent years in the composition of coal and coal fly ash. Multi-element determination of coal and coal fly ash by inductively coupled plasma-emission spectroscopy (ICP-ES) has been established1-6. This paper describes the multi-element analysis of coal fly ash by ICP-ES.
