The presence of a Nanonics NSOM/AFM-100 on any optical microscope stage, that is fitted on one port of the microscope with a laser scanning device for confocal or for non-linear microscopic imaging or for CCD computational deconvolution imaging, opens new unachievable worlds of investigation. As a first example of the unique perspectives a researcher can gain by having the Nanonics NSOM/AFM-100 working simultaneously with one of the above imaging modalities, consider the limitations in Z resolution of confocal or non-linear microscopes or for, that matter computational approaches with CCD cameras. Generously speaking the z resolution in such microscopes is 0.7 microns in fluorescence mode.
