Introduction An IMS method for determining trace quantities of ND-165 detergent (a basic detergent manufactured by NCH Corp.) has been developed using the IONSCAN-LS. The method is based on the detection of the surfactant 2,6,8-trimethyl-4- nonyloxypolyoxyethanol. This surfactant is also found in other detergents, and variations of this method can readily be developed to analyze for those detergents.
