A frequent problem that arises when analyzing western blotting results is the presence of high background signal in the developed film or image. One potential source of such background signal is the buffers used for the dilution of the antibodies and blocking/washing of the membranes. While a variety of buffers are used in the process of antibody dilution and blocking/washing, different applications sometimes require a specific blocking and washing reagent and the amount of background levels can vary with them.
