MIRA36是磁控管Ka波段多普勒雷达，用于长期的云监测。系统发射线性偏振信号，并收集后向散射回的回波的反射率和消偏振比（Linear De-polarization Ratio LDR)，反射率用于研究云的密度，消偏振比用于鉴别云的类型。
MIRA-36的天线正常情况采用垂直安装，用于测量从150m到15km的云廓线，也可以选择扫描装置，进行180度扫描监测。扫描装置见下图。
应用范围：
云的长期观测，高分辨率的测量，从边界层到平流层云的分布研究，云粒（云滴）的光谱分析。
