Introduction: Selenium is extremely susceptible to sublimating out of the sample solution at relatively low temperatures due to its low melting point. Therefore, selenium is a very difficult element to analyze in atmospheric conditions. To accurately determine the selenium concentration, care must be taken in all steps of sample preparation to prevent sample volatilization from occurring.
