INTRODUCTION This technical note describes a simple plumbing scheme that allows optimization for both mass-directed collection of fractions, and subsequent automated reinjection of those fractions using off-the-shelf Gilson instrumentation. The dual system (prep and analytical) utilized a diode array detector and a VERITY® 1900 MS Detector (Figure 1 ). A 2-position, 10-port VALVEMATE® II was employed to switch the pump to the injector, the column to the detector, and to maintain the UV detector to splitter delay volume to ensure peak alignment in prep mode for higher flow rates.
