Rainer Lohmann, Professor of Oceanography at University of Rhode Island, USA. His main research interests combine marine organic geochemistry and environmental chemistry. On the molecular scale, Prof. Lohmann’s research focuses on the transport and fate of recalcitrant organic compounds, such as persistent organic pollutants. Since 2017, Prof. Lohmann leads a Superfund Research Center at University of Rhode Island, one among ~ 20 nationwide. He has > 160 peer-reviewed publications, which have been cited > 7,000 times, and participated in over 10 research cruises. His scopus h-index is 46. Since 2004, he has been awarded > 25 Mio in external funding from the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), National Ocean and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), the Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program (SERDP), private foundations and other Federal and State funding agencies. He is Editor of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, Editorial Board members of Environmental Science & Technology, Environmental Science & Technology Letters, Environmental Pollution, Atmospheric Pollution Research, and Environment & Health (E&H).
