Side illumination AFM-TERS measurements in liquid environment using HORIBA NanoRaman

AFM-TERS measurements in liquid open the opportunity to diversify the applicability of TERS in disciplines that require the characterization of samples under their native conditions (i.e., heterogeneous catalysis, electrochemistry, and biomaterials). However, the routine realization of AFM-TERS in liquid is challenged by instrumental difficulties. In this report, the instrumental features of the HORIBA AFM-TERS setup and experimental conditions of the measurements to regularly perform TERS in liquid environment is presented and demonstrated by the nanoscale imaging of a SAM of 4-PBT molecules deposited on Au film.
