This paper describes the full scale tests for air flowsin a test chamber subject to heat loads generated byhuman occupancy and equipment. The Particle ImageVelocimetry (PIV) technique was used to investigatebuoyancy-driven flows near the human thermalmanikin “Victoria”. Based on the experimentalfacility details, a full scale 3-D CFD model of the testfacility was generated. The results obtained from theCFD simulation were compared with data obtainedfrom the PIV results. Results compare very well anddemonstrate the potential usefulness of PIV as a CFDvalidation technique.
