The Electrochemical Society is an international nonprofit, educational, organization concerned with a broad range of phenomena relating to electrochemical and solid state science and technology. The Society has more than 7,000 scientists and engineers in over 75 countries worldwide who hold individual membership, as well as roughly 100 corporations and laboratories who hold contributing membership.

Since its inception as the American Electrochemical Society in 1902, the ECS has grown and continued to respond to the changing technical needs and interests of our membership. Subject: Reduction potentials for organic functional groups.

I have a student who is looking for the reduction potentials of various
functional groups (ketone, triple bond, etc.) She doesn't want
reduction potentials for any particular compounds, nor is she interested
in using particular reagents to reduce the functional groups. She wants
both the first and second reduction potentials, ideally in some sort of
chart form. I've racked my brains, and I can't come up with a good
source, although I'm convinced that I've seen one somewhere. Any
suggestions will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Judith: The one you are trying to remember is probably "Handbook series in
organic electrochemistry".

To get started, check v.2 which has an index identifying different functional groups (e.g. ketones, which is subdivided ... dialkyl, alkyl-aryl, alkyl-heterocyclic ring, di-aryl ......

P.S. There is also a listing under "unsaturated compounds, acetylenic"

Subject: Reduction potentials for organic functional groups.

Greetings from equally damp, snowy NYC.

Try Patai's Chemistry of Functional Groups series. I did a quick look-up in Chemistry of the Carbonyl Group and it gave the info for carbonyl groups, so I would imagine that the corresponding volumes for the other functional
groups that you list would give similar information. Obviously, it's only approximate, since the reduction potential is dependent on many factors.
