It is more common to translate “notch” as 缺口 in mechanical engineering (see GBT229 金属夏比缺口冲击试验方法 Charpy notch impact test).
Technical terms sometimes have special meaning and unique translation, for example, “jaw” in mechanical engineering is often translated as 爪 (the jaw of caliper = 游标卡尺的量爪) although its literal meaning in ordinary dictionary is 颚 or 颌.
It is not difficult to understand what is “Fixed vise jaw”, but it is difficult for me to translate it into proper Chinese as I am not a mechanical engineer.
