scot柱结合了毛细管气相色谱的灵敏度和良好的样品分辨率，以及填充气相色谱丰富的固定相库。在scot毛细管柱中，毛细管内壁衬有一层薄薄的颗粒载体，如硅藻土；然后在这种载体材料上涂覆一层薄薄的液体固定相。这是scot柱的另一个优点，因为它比wcot柱具有更大的表面积和更厚的固定相层。
