Optical Instrumentation and Microfluidics for molecular detection of diseases

Open Until Filled

Postdoctoral fellow positions are available for researchers interested in developing optical instrumentation and microfluidic systems for molecular detection of diseases. The fellows will be joining an interdisciplinary research team situated in Whitaker Biomedical Engineering Institute, Institute of NanoBioTechnology and Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at the Johns Hopkins University.

Candidates should have hands-on experiences such as:

  - Design and development of sensitive fluorescence imaging instrumentation

  - Microfluidic device design and fabrication; experience with multilayer soft lithography is a plus

  - Design and assembly of temperature control instrumentation for microfluidic devices

  - Familiarity with nucleic acid analysis techniques (e.g. PCR and melt curve analysis)

  - Programming experience in LabVIEW and Matlab for instrument control and data analysis

  - Mechanical component design in a CAD software (preferably Solidworks)

  - Experience with laboratory automation and systems engineering will be a plus
