An Official Statement about Bruker Biospin Services in China

  TO: BRUKER CORPORATION MANAGEMENT TEAM

As the spokesman of the Special Committee for NMR-users Affairs, Chinese Society of Magnetic Resonance, I’m writing on behalf of all NMR-users in China to convey this statement you. This results from some recent events related to Bruker services in China and needs your immediate attention. Please see this trail of emails for details if you were not reported to.

A Bruker stuff asked to speak to some of us over the phone. However, we do not think that now is an appropriate time to discuss such matters over phones or in person, but rather until Bruker Biospin takes actual actions. Of course, the individual cases should be addressed satisfactorily by Bruker. Nevertheless, we believe that the real problem resulting in the current situation lies within the management personnel of the Bruker Biospin service division in China, and the policy of your global service. We are convinced that structural changes are essential. We do not think the situation can be properly resolved until this issue is taken care of.

Furthermore, the results a questionnaire survey that this Committee has already conducted about Bruker Biospin’s service in China strongly support the above points. Over 190 NMR-users from 103 universities, research institutes, and companies replied. Unfortunately, only less than 5% of them gave an answer of “satisfactory” to Bruker post-sale services. These overwhelming results clearly show that something has gone significantly wrong with the provided services and probably for far too long.

To resolve the problem, we believe that instead of reaching out to us to further understand the situation, you should immediately start an internal investigation and deal with those who cannot serve and are not willing to serve your customers well. We will wait until you settle this first before proceeding to the discussion of the matter accordingly.

I look forward to hearing from you regarding this matter soon.

  Faithfully Yours,

  Huiru Tang, PhD FRSC Professor

Spokesperson of the Special Committee for NMR-users Affairs

  Chinese Society of Magnetic Resonance
