intelligence, it is fully controlled by a powerful WINDOWS software
system. Apart from the usual surface tension measuring methods with
Du Noüy-Ring and Wilhelmy plate, it offers new possibilities to
determine contact angles on solid and pulverised test samples and
thus also surface energy.
The high degree of sensitivity and extremely fast response time of
the new powerful measuring system means that even hair-fine fibres
can be characterised. The double spindle guide in conjunction with
a PLL controlled dc motor creates the clearance and extremely low
vibration of table movement over a broad range of speeds that this
sort of accuracy requires. Robust and extraordinarily reliable the
TE 3 provides highly precise measurements, but is also extremely
simple to operate. It withstands inclement ambient conditions as
well as aggressive vapours and chemicals. The large open interior
eases the attachment of sensors. If required it can be protected
by a removable housing.
TE3 offers the usual surface/interfacial tension measurement
technology based on the Du Nouy ring and Wilhelmy plate, plus
additional options for measuring critical micellar concentrations
and contact angles on solid and powdered samples and therefore also
the surface energy. Thanks to the high sensitivity and extremely
short response time of the new force measurement system, even
hair-fine fibers can be characterized.

– Interfacial tensions between two immiscible liquids (e.g. water/oil)
– Contact angles on solid plates with the dipping method (dynamic Wilhelmy method)
– Contact angle on fibers using dynamic Wilhelmy
– or on powders using the Washburn method
– Automatic concentration changes to determine the critical micellar concentration (CMC)
– Automatic surface aspirating for cleaning surfaces and for adsorption tests
– Density using the buoyancy method
