Press Reease Australian Company finds Export Success in Spain The Series 2000 Olive Analyser is a powerful measurement tool for use in the olive processingindustry. Next Instruments， Sydney，Australia， has found an export market in Spain and hasshipped over 50 of its Series 2000 Olive Analyser for use in the world's largest olive growingindustry. The Series 2000 Olive Analyser is a diode array spectrometer that uses a selection of sample cellsto collect near infrared transmission spectra through liquid， suspensions and emulsions， such asmashed olives and olive oil. The Series 2000 scans the wavelength range from 720-1100nm intransmission and transflectance modes. Organic molecules containing O-H， C-H and N-H bondsexhibit strong NIR absorbance bands within this region of the electromagnetic spectrum. A Spanish company，Tecnilab S.A. based near Madrid， has been representing Next Instruments formany years. Tecnilab first approached Next instruments to see if they could supply a nearinfrared analyser for measuring oil and moisture in olive mash. After several visits to Spain and alot of calibration development， the first instrument was supplied to Tecnilab. Since thencalibrations have been developed for residual oil in pumice and Free Fatty Acids， Peroxide Valuesand Polyphenols in virgin olive oil. As a result， Series 2000 Olive Analysers have been sold to Italy，Greece， North Africa， South America and Australia. The Series 2000 NIT Analysers can be operated using a PC or as a free standing instrument. Acomprehensive software package， NTAS (NIR Technology Analysis Software)， provides a means ofdeveloping Partial Least Squares (PLS) calibrations to be used for quantitative methods ofanalysis. NTAS also provides qualitative analysis for use in identifying raw materials.
