对照品是一种化学特征很强的样品。

药典里常用Reference Standard来表示对照品。

可否译为参照标准物（样）（品）。感觉还是指某化合物的特定类型（纯度、物理状态等），而非化学特性（反应特性、氧化还原、酸碱性等）。不知理解是否对。

我又想了一下，翻译成“化学特征很强”的确不太好。其实原文里“highly characterized”这个词用得不太好。Reference Standard其实就是很纯的物质，因此才可以拿它的测定结果来作对照。它的“特征”是从各个方面来说的，包括颜色、溶解度、熔点、旋光性、pH、UV光谱、IR光谱、NMR谱、色谱行为等。作者之所以用“characterized”这个词，是因为不同批次的一般样品因为含有杂质，测定结果可能有很大不同；而reference standard因为纯度很高，不同批次的测定结果不会有太大差异，能够代表这种物质的特性。

至于译成“对照品”，是因为这是药典里的标准译法。“参考标准物质”对于化学药品而言应译为“对照品”，对于生物制品而言应译为“标准品”。对于中药，因为它所含的成份也是化学成分（纯度很高的中药成份归为化药，比如灯盏花素等），所以也用“对照品”。

I think that the reference standard in chemistry may be same as the reference material in metrology.
