Feed Peas Pushed by Competing Markets

竞争市场推动下的饲料碗豆

VANCOUVER - Jun 20/09 - SNS -- Weakness on international feed ingredient markets contributed to a modest erosion in feed pea prices in Europe during the past week.

Alaron Trading Corporation's Tim Hannagan notes markets are being pushed around by increased speculation in front of the coming seeded area estimates from Statistics Canada on June 23 and the USDA on June 30.

阿拉龙交易公司的Tim Hannagan表示，在6月23日加拿大统计局和6月30日美国农业部作出未来已播种面积评估之前，市场仍被增加的投机活动所摆布。

"However, watch out. Index and Trend following funds hold the majority of positions. They do not trade old school supply demand number on reports. They trade the fear before the fact," he said.

“但是，需要小心。跟随基金的迹象和趋势占据着主导地位。他们不会向守旧派交易报告上的供求信息。他们只会在事实发生前交易其忧虑。”他说。

In the case of corn, Hannagan said, "The last four years we saw corn rally in May into early June, then a correction followed by another rally. Last year we had a May to June 18th rally of 2.00 then a 40 cent correction followed by a 60 cent rally into June 29th. This year our May low rally to June 10th was 70 cents with a 53 cent drop into this week.

"It is certainly in the minds of traders we can get a rally of some extent into the June 30th Report as traders will fear being short and speculators will buy on the thinking the late wet planting season will show acres went unseeded vs. what the USDA March 31st Planting Intension Report showed.

The report showed only 1 million acres less corn and 300,000 more beans.

It is all guessing and sounds good to them. Between now and a week from Monday it will all average out on pre-report guesses but expect higher trade into the report."

My personal view :

Evaluate : 评估、评价 (generally qualitative)
~~Estimate : 估计、估算 (generally quantitive)~~

Estimate : 译作估算时, generally quantitive???
Estimate : 译作估计时, qualitative and quantitive???

“coming” describes the “estimates”, not the seeded area

My translation:

Index (指数) and Trend (走势、趋势图, pleas note the capital letter T) are common tools in economical analysis.
funds : 基金、资金
old school : 意为传统的
“Supply and demand” is the basic concept of economics (剪刀差的来源), means economical
number : data, information

It seems that the author 俗语化地揶揄 the government reports in this paragraph.

My translation:

“但是，需要留意。反影资金的指数和趋势图仍在报告内举足轻重。但它们却不会(在报告内)提供到传统的财经讯息, 只是危言耸听*。”他说。

(* or 推波助澜、妖言惑众、唯恐天下不乱、在事实前贩卖恐惧……)

这样写行不：市场被猖獗的投机所繁荣。

他的词面意思是摆布。我是觉得这句话的意思是投机活动造成了市场的表面繁荣，也就是操控了市场。
这个跟目前国内的房产市场被push around应该是同样的感念吧
