Because there is no space between the word “10%” and “sterile”, I suspected that some words might be missing especially when I found the following from https://www.dotscientific.com/pdf/tryptic_soy_blood_agar_base_2/trypticsoybloodagarbase2_7654.pdf :
Directions
1. Suspend 40 g of the medium in one liter of purified water.
2. Heat with frequent agitation and boil for one minute to completely dissolve the medium.
3. Autoclave at 121°C for 15 minutes.
4. Prepare 5 - 10% blood agar by aseptically adding the appropriate volume of sterile defibrinated blood to melted sterile agar medium, cooled to 45 - 50°C.
However, I just found that the original is correct from http://www.bd.com/ds/technicalCenter/inserts/Brucella_Media.pdf except a redundant comma.
