A flow injection electrogenerated chemiluminescence method for the determination of uranium is described.Uranium(Ⅵ) was on line reduced to uranium(Ⅲ) by a constant potential electrolysis technique at the potential of-0.70 V(vs. Ag/AgCl electrode) using a self-made flow-through carbon electrolytic cell, then the produced uranium(Ⅲ) reacted with luminol in alkaline solution to produce chemiluminescence. The chemiluminescent intensity is linear with the concentration of uranium in the range 1.0×10-9-1.0×10-5 g/mL with a detection limit(3σ) of 2×10-10 g/mL.The relative standard deviation is 2.5% for 1.0×10-7 g/mL uranium in 13 replicated measurements. The method has been applied to the determination of uranium in coal ash samples. 【Keyword】:electrogenerated chemiluminescence;uranium;flow injection;coal ash;constant potential electrolysis
