一周之后,这些学生参加了简答式测试,检验他们的记忆成果,并且利用记忆成果进行了推论。最初写文章的学生表现最好,其次是临时抱佛脚的,最后才是画概念图的。
之后,学生需要凭记忆画出概念图,同样,写文章的学生做得最好,打败了最开始画概念图的学生。
这项发现有其必然的局限性,但它确实表明,像写文章这样的提取练习是强大的学习方法。一些先进课程中过于强调所谓仔细研读的方法(例如画概念图),但却低估了写文章的价值。
然而,画概念图和临时抱佛脚至少有一个好处,在对学习效果进行自我评估的时候,用这些方法的学生给自己打的分比写文章的学生要高。他们其实没学到什么,但却自我感觉良好。

For cheating in the examination when I was still a student, I wrote some formulas on a small piece of paper. However, I could always remember those formulas without peeping on the paper during the examination. Maybe, writing those formulas carefully had strengthened my memory. Such cases had happened many times.
