初可解作初步, 很快得出结果但可能不太详细; preliminary test (or examination)是相对于detailed test, completed test, full test.

If 初检 is the first test (or examination) of a series of tests, it may consider to use “initial test” which is corresponding to “subsequent tests”, “second test” etc.
