(1) Electron microscopy (SEM and TEM).- Size and shape. If with EDX you may get compositional information.
(2) Scanning probe microscopy (AFM, STM, MFM and EFM....). Size and shape as well as force measurement.
(3) Dynamic light scattering (DLS) or Photon correlation spectroscopy (PCS) or Quasi elastic light scattering (QELS). -hydrodynamic size and Zeta potential. This tech. is good for size estimation of particle in solution.
(4) Static light scattering (Multi-angle laser light scattering, MALS).-radius of gyration. Good for protein, liposome, polymer and (Assuming we call these materials nanoparticles).
(5) Centrifugal particle sizer (CPS)- relative particle size. Has to run a internal standard first, kind of tricky.
